Cheru thali ( Antidesmsa sp. )




Botanical name :  Antidesmsa sp.
Synonym:  Stilago banius.

Family : Euphorbiaceae

Other names:
                                Ariaporian
                                Nulithali.
                                Nulaidali (Tamil)


Cheruthali is an evergreen  understory shrub/tree, commonly found in Western Ghat.
Leaves: Simple, alternate, elliptic-oblong to lanceolate.

Inflorescence:   Axillery or terminal, flowers in 8-10 cm long glabrous spikes.

Fruits are edible, drupes with one seed and found in clusters.



Medicinal use:
Leaves are used in the treatment of snake bite.
